Intl is down but interestingly Australia is still working fine. Sat cable should be declared an esential service. But the government would probably run it worse than Telkom

Give it to an independent body to run it as a not-for-profit enterprise. Of course, I don't see govt. declaring it an essential service, which is a real pity. Telkom only uses a quarter of the damned thing anyway. We could probably ALL sit with unshaped uncapped access if the cable was properly utilised.

got in with admin admin u/name and pw - just so interesting to see how many times it's the Rosebank connection that's involved and that's where i sit

currently trying to download something from ftp server and it's going at 11.5kb/s, really annoying to put it mildly

i don't think this situation is going to get better soon, i've been using ADSL since it first came out and i've only ever had this nonsense, it seems to be getting worse, not better.

As the number of users increase, the performance will decrease, and if Telkom is slow to upgrade they can get everyone used to the *** service.

SAT3 Cable is under-utilized, it's in telkoms interest to charge the earth for the little of the cable it uses.

currently trying to download something from ftp server and it's going at 11.5kb/s, really annoying to put it mildly

Ive noticed that sometimes I download at full line speed, or 10kB/s or 3-5kB/s not capped.. it is odd, So I will try and get four after each other, downloads 1st will go fast and next will be slow etc and remain slow for that server then go to another server an get files and its fast and then next one is slow.. weird. mebbe i''m just unlucky.
