Internation down again

Seems like it was a 10 minute thing, but now my torrents won't start

Intl went down my side intermittently for several minutes as well, had to change IP several times - torrents down from 90 KB to 6 KB...

Will leave it for another eve, just unnecessarily wasting bandwidth now.

same here, 3kb max on my side

DW it looks like we are on different networks since mine has been and still is fine.

Is it only slow for torrents or is browsing and http downloads also affected your side?

browsing seems ok...but torrents suck... What's kinda weird is that usually when these problems occur I seem to get soft disconnects.

Soft disconnects : the iburst icon still shows connected in the taskbar, but when I click on it, nothing happens. I cant disconnect it and I have to restart the computer to connect again. (did the same on my other computer). Never had this problem before but it seems that when iBurst works on something I get this problem. I also get a error when I restart "taskbar tray not responding". Kinda sucks

My international is SLOWWWWW... I think u Cape Townians should have your own thread!

Everytime JHB is down, CT is normal!

Not fair :(

That works both ways as a few months ago it was very bad in CT while it was fine in JHB.

It seems iBurst can't be stable in all places at the same time for some reason or other, but in general it is no where as good as it was 2 years ago.

Ok I don't use torrents so that could explain why I'm not having the same slow problems as you do.

As for the "soft disconnects" I'm not sure what the problem is since I connect through a router which normally holds an IP until I decide to change it.

The "soft disconnect" as you describe it is an NVIDIA ERROR.

I know hundreds of people with nforce motherboards who run their connection through their onboard lan and have this problem on almost all OSes. Nvidia are aware of it and frankly don't really care about fixing it anytime soon (It's some issue with them using 1 chip for sata and network and such) so your only solution is to either get another network card OR connect through USB.

You are kidding me? I could swear it did the same on my Via ethernet on my old board. I might be wrong. Well I've installed a 3Com card to see what it does.

DW, give us feedback on the outcome as the info might be helpful for another user.

Seems like it's still working. Well then I guess the onboard Nvidia Ethernet kinda sucks :(

Heh I read through all the stuff on the last page without it hitting me until you spelt it out.. I also have onboard Nvidia Ethernet. :(

I was hoping to go straight through Ethernet if I move my router... so the only solution (if I have the same problem) is to get a new PCI card? No fixes or patches?

does your onboard Nvidia nic have a built in hardware firewall?
I had strange problems till I disabled mine and got a software firewall going instead... maybe something to try?

It has the hardware firewall, but I'm not even sure if it's on or not. I haven't loaded any software for it in Windows, but I suppose the point is that it runs by itself...

I haven't had any problems myself when I use it, but thats only when I LAN.
