International Dead... Slow

I have only noticed the issue since I arrived home this evening. Everything was still working reasonably well last night. Wonder what is wrong this time  . It seems like we can't have week without some sort of hick up. The rest of the "enlightened" world probably laughs at us - we pay ridiculous amounts to get barely decent Internet access which is hugely restricted and on top of that, we still have to struggle with issues like this! I can't connect to G-Talk en my G-Mail takes forever to download and times out eventually. So much for spening R1000 per month on Internet! South Africa sux!

Agreed. It has been fine until today. Now everything international barely works.

I opened a ticket with the help desk and they said I must do an international speed test with the link they provided. I would... if it even FEKKING LOADED!!!

And the scary thing is that these guys have to carry the TV signal and a lot of the data for the World Cup :(

Any update on this?

Hey guys, have anyone experienced a change in their international connectivity or did anyone perhaps get a decent explanation from Sentech? What gets to me (as a NoWire subscriber) is that the Sentech call centre does not want to help me! I mean, if the Vodacom network (for example) has an issue, I don't phone Autopage / VSP etc. about the problem, I phone my network which is Vodacom... and which is Sentech in this case. Absolute nonsense!

Well this has been going on for a long time .I remember I once lost it one time with a Sentech support guy , when he gave me that "Sorry sir you're Nowire customer and we don't support Nowire clients".It felt like a real kick in the face .I tried raising this issue with Desmond (the manager from the Cape Town office) and as always , he never responded to my mails. These guys enjoy shafting us in the a s s and jerking off on our hard earned cash ...they love it.And because of that and much other k a k I've had to deal with in the past , come end of July when this contract ends , I SHALL BE FREE!!! I can't wait.

What comes after Sentech...

I agree with you, the service you receive from these guys is horrific. I spoke to the Customer Care Manager at NoWire last month. They wanted to charge me the full R1099 a month to upgrade to the Flexi 5000+ package (for the remainder of my contract), although I only paid R499 a month for the Classic 128k package (reduced subs). After lots of telephone calls, threats etc, they eventually gave it to me at R999. I achieved something! :p

Luckily my contract also expires in July... I'm only taking their new improved offering for a test drive. My eyes are on Neotel after that to see what they come up with. I signed up with their "pilot program" (me and the rest of the country probably ;) ), so we'll see if they'll "require my participation". Hopefully I'll return to the US sometime next year. This last month or so since my return to the dark continent has been painful.
