Hi all, I am thinking of purchasing a laptop in the US and sending it to a package forwarder (Stackry).
I was wondering if laptops are still exempt from import tax, other the 15% Vat?
Does anyone know?

If someone has an alternative recommendation to Stackry, I'd also be interested!

15%? I paid 20 after all was said and done the last time. Not through Stackry.

This is what I can find online - Officially, imported laptops also require South Africans to pay 15% VAT. Laptops, unlike some other electronics categories, do not, however, attract any import duties.

I'm also not sure if there is a maximum cost the laptop can be? Is there a threshold before more complications?

Import duties on new MBP

Hi All Just trying to figure out what the import duties would be on the new MBP if I had to import either from the US or the UK? SARS was their usual useless selfs, so thought I'd ask a better knowing crowd :)
