Hi,

My international latency has be nasty the last 2 nights...
double what it used to be...

any one else having this problem? ... or is it not an iburst issue and more of a routing issue internationally

Not just international for me. EVERYTHING is borked, and no word of a problem from iBurst.

Local (even this site) and Int pages timeout constantly the past few days.

Hasn't there been a problem on the SAT-3 cable? The threads over on the ADSL section all have some title about SAT3 being half down atm.

I don't know how iBurst in Cape Town configures their routing tables, But the last couple of weeks the traceroutes showed that I receive International data via globalconnex(IntelSAT) and send my requests through Verizon.

Today it changes between Verizon and Globalconnex depending on the location from where I do the traceroute.

I also noticed that some of iBurst's Edge routers that are connected to the Internet does not filter RFC1918.

Last time I checked I only manage to get 29KB/s international and up to 118KB/s local.

Yeah my World of Warcraft latency is awful at the moment :(

Ed, any word on whats causing this?

Been as fast as normal (105kbps - 120kbps) my side till I hit my cap a little earlier, and since then a stable 7 to 8kb which is acceptable.:D

@ MrH - Just a little off topic question here. Did you get throttled immediately, or after a modem reboot?

GBM, I was busy downloading at the time and it dropped to capped speeds, since then I changed IP a few times but still capped.
According to BWMeter I'd downloaded just over my 3GB which is acceptable.

This is the way it's always gone into capped mode for me except for the times I got COD during downloading.

It surprises me, as I got capped when rebooting my connection. I downloaded about 3.35GB, which is way over my limit, yet didn't get throttled immediately.

GBM, it's not the same for all users, for example only some get the COD where others who have been with iBurst just as long have never experienced that problem.

Maybe Ed can either confirm what I said or explain why some only get capped after rebooting their modems.
