international parcel delivery

I ordered a Sapphire Stone online around May 19 online from a store in New York as I was battling to locate one in SA like it. The store posted it to me through United States Postal Service to an address in Durban and I have still not received the parcel. It was unfortunately sent without tracking and I have phoned the South African Postal Office and gone to my local post office numerous times to try tack it by my name with no luck. Does any one know if there is a way to find out if this still stuck in customs or know how long something like this takes to clear in customs. Or should I give up and accept that this has been stolen and make sure I never use the South African Post Office again.
 
It can take up to 3 months... But you really are screwed without a tracking number...
 
As in a gemstone?

With no tracking number? LOL

Next time pay the money for a proper courier.
 
I only realized after I ordered it they didn't put a tracking number on it. I can and will get refunded by the shop but I really wanted this item. Still hoping it will somehow make it through the system. So i should probably loose hope after 3 months?
 
My package which I ordered in May through USPS only arrived this week. So maybe there's still hope?

I would say if it does not arrive by the end of August it's not going to. Personally I think your chances are quite slim because I'm receiving most international items within 3 to 4 weeks, but past history with the post office says it can take 3 months...
