Anyone experiencing problems with iBurst international connections?

Been having problems uploading to Rapid Share for months. I don't have any issues downloading, but uploading doesn't work at all. I don't know if it's an I-Burst issue, though.

Problems as in high latency or slow transfer speed? My browsing seems normal both locally and internationally.

I'm also considering moving to 4mb ADSL, otherwise 512K with a larger cap. Wireless in this country just isn't working.

Well I agree 100%. Not to mention the **** service from them.
Here is what I have / am getting.

R 413 - 4mb ADSL
R 111?- Telkom line Rental
R239 - 5gig account
R130- 30gig local account
Total = R 893.

I am currently paying for a 3gig Iburst R599. So basically for an extra R300 I get a faster, stable service with about 32 gigs more bandwidth.

Why not get a combined 4mb ADSL line and 5GB account? It will work out cheaper than R652 (R413 + R239) and lets the ISP deal with your Telkom line instead of you phoning them.

eg: Sainet is R619 for 6GB and the 4mb line, but with a R399 activation fee which is still worth it imo.

If you already have a Telkom home line you aren't paying the R111 extra btw.

The problem as far as i can tell is iBursts setup. Their MTU is irregular. Their dns servers are dodgy. and for the most part, they fail to conform to at least a dozen RFC standards. If they just go through the list of RFCs that apply to them and correct their systems to conform, it'd be a much more stable system.
Standards exist for a reason.
What are RFCs? google RFC

Now isn’t that the truth...

No you are paying the R111, it is for line rental.

As EHV said: "If you already have a Telkom home line you aren't paying the R111 extra"

He is quite correct as you ARE already paying that rental for the use of your phone.

Only if you get a new line for your ADSL connection will you be paying the line rental as well as the ADSL service.

The above is argued quite often and is misunderstood by many it seems going by the posts that pop up in the ADSL section from time to time.
