Has anyone had any issues with this, and been able to resolve it?

I'm on prepaid, and checked before I left that full-roaming was enabled. However now that I'm here in Ireland for a bit I can't connect to any network..

You get no service? (i.e no network name at all) - or nothing works once connected to a network?

How long in advance did you activate it? Once with MTN I had to ask them 3 times over 3 weeks to turn it on because everytime I phoned they would say yes - then i'de check on USSD and it would say its not.

Also try a manual search and connect to a network.

Having similar issues in Zim. Vodacom is my home network but the econet here works sporadically. Buying an international roaming bundle helps a bit with whatsapp

No service connection at all, 0 bars - if I check under Network selection I can see several operators, but selecting any of them manually doesn't do anything.

I activated it a few weeks back, even now in their portal it shows as active. How do you check the USSD?

Does anyone know a way to contact Telkom about this? Their support number doesn't work from here..

Does Telkom not do the scaly tactics of MTN and block Wi-Fi calling from outside South Africa to protect their roaming revenue stream?

No. My mum is on prepaid and she used it in Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Burundi, Rwanda, Kenya and Malawi without any issues.

She was 3 months in Blantyre and we spoke on the phone like normal with vowifi on.

An eSIM is multi-carrier, it can hold up to five virtual SIM cards at a time and you just need to switch between plans in your mobile device settings.

Devices equipped with an eSIM allow you therefore to activate an additional cellular data plan, which you can use locally or internationally, without the need to look for a physical SIM card.

Ubigi allows you to get and install a free eSIM profile on such devices. Using an operator like Ubigi, which connects to the local mobile network abroad in over 190 destinations, can be much more economical than paying your usual operator’s roaming charges when you use your Internet connection abroad for leisure or work.
