Ill be in kenya for a few days

There is a number of options that i can use on contract

The vodacom travel saver seems like a good option.
R30 per day, then u can make calls R2.50 per minute and data R2 meg.

The other option is africa roaming ...
R5 minute R5 a meg

What is the best or should i say cheapest option?

almost inevitably the cheapest option is not to roam and to use a prepaid account on that side. The best option that includes roaming depends on your usage case and as far as I know Vodacom is particularly competitive (compared to other telecos) in the international roaming sphere especially if you sign up for stuff - R30 a day is worth it if you re going to download more than 10 megs or make 12 minutes worth of phone calls a day.

get prepaid sim there, your whats app will still work.
you can give that number to your wife/girlfriend/work etc.

unless there is anyone else that is important, just leave a message on your vmail system. Then if people call they will hear the details of when you expect to return.

If you HAVE to be available on your number then I guess that is a good deal but still expensive in my opinion. Nothing beats just buying a local prepaid card once you land that side. Make sure that it offers some good data usage and communicate via WhatsApp, WeChat etc...

By far the cheapest way to stay in touch and with the added advantage that there is and will be no surprises.
