International still dead

hey i was capped also and had the same problem but solved it by logging onto the router settings page and clicking on 'save settings and reset router', after that my int. speeds were back. :D

Well, it is now 01h15 and I am still capped. No Internarional speed whatsoever. Just some more hellcom I suppose.
I have a usb modem. What do you guys mean by "router reset"? Is there an equivalent to that for a usb modem?
I was capped for 20 days in the past month and now Still having to wait is seriously testing my patience. Grrrrrrrr :(

<vasb8 >what router/modem do u have?i.e.telkom one or other.

<adlo>sorry bud,i know the feeling, believe me i know exactly what u going thru!!!guess u must be in the 'problem area' hey!See u reached ur limits of frustration-u actually tried phoning the incompetants

I have the hellcom macaroni adsl usb pots modem. Can this be reset?

k cool,i have marconi ethernet router.I think it can be reset the way I did.Just type your IP address into your internet browser and you should get prompted to enter a password and username if they aren't there already, check the modem box if not entered automatically. The webpage will open and on the left you will see 'save settings and reset'
click on it and then on the screen on your right click 'submit'.If this is too much of a mission look on the modem for a reset switch,if there isn't one then switch it off and wait a second or two and then switch it back on again.let me know if u hav any luck?

Dude, what I've experienced with my employment at Telkom Internet online support, is that most of you DSL users usually suffer from an id10t problem and that the problem is persistent between keyboard and chair. The dude is having a problem and the most intelligent thing you manage to do is knock the okes YOU cry to for help when you can't your bloody mail. Oh, by the way if the dude is using an USB DSL modem he can reset it by power cycling it. (ie. plug it out and plug it back in.)

Praat K@k eddie !

Or should I say "Dude"

What we've experienced with Teklom is that most of you "support" "techs" are clueless, usually suffering from a D00s problem which is persistant between one ear and the other.

With support people like you, Hellkom is guaranteed to continue providing **** support with the arrogance you have displayed in your post.

"Telkom Internet online support"?? Was that meant as a joke? Go back to the zoo you call tech support. There's already enough teklom arrogance in this world without your less-than-helpful attitude. Any intelligent teklom employee would be doing their utmost to give teklom a better name around here - but alas, arrogance and a willingness to be as unhelpful as possible must be a pre-requisite to getting a job there.

LOL Now is that not typical Telscum attitude. They throw in their half cent's woth and then run for the hills as soon as they realise that the game is on and other's are throwing R5 coins. Good on you guys, you made him run, probably still sulcking in a corner somewhere :D

Anyone capped in April who are able to surf international?
I reset the router at 12h15 but I am still capped.
ISP is Telkom.

Okay, you reset the router. Good most guys out there won't actually think that far. My "arrogance" as most the members who participated in this forum so kindly pointed out to was merely irritance at some of the calls I need to handle and see you guys calling us dumb smucks. Don't knock tech support guys unless you've actually done it yourself. You wouldn't believe the calls I've had to handle. My apologies if my response twisted some knickers. I'll admit to the fact that some tech support agents are not as "technicaly inclined" as they should be. They're the ones that bother me during calls to help them with their call. And you'll find that at ALL isp's.

Now in my experience, what usually happens when you are still capped on the 1st of the month is that you are still on the throttled ip range (165.165.x.x). If this is the case even after you have restarted the router then you need to take note of the time of your previous connection when you were still capped. The reason for this is your account is updated every 24 hours and if it is not after that then you'll still be on the screwed ip range. It often does happen that your ip address will not be updated at the radius server. To fix this phone 0860008700 (this IS the number, just dialed it myself). Ask the agent to end/disconnect all your active sessions. This should release you from the ip range.

Unfortuanately this is a problem at the product management level and us worker bees don't have the horse power to actually do anything about it.

Thanks bra eddie at least you are prepared to help. It is true that some people often refer to the person behind the helpdesk as incompetent when in fact it could be purely out of fustration.

bra_eddie,

I know you are very busy but if you could try and answer these questions:
1) I phoned Telkom's telephone support at 1 in the morning on the date of this problem. Why don't Telkom employees answer the phone.
2) Why don't you try to find out what the problem was and assist your clients instead of critizing someone trying to solve the problem.
3) Why do Telkom publish the wrong contact information on their website. This is Absa's telephone number.
4) Why do Telkom not contact me when I submit my problem on your online support page.
5) Why don't Telkom try and be helpful like Vodacom, MTN and WBS by participating in this forum?

I would appreciate it if you could answer these questions.

Regards
Telkom ADSL user

That number to tech support is um... wrong. Sorry dudes, correct number: 0860008700.

When you want mail support: Send mail to [email protected]. Include a brief discription of your problem and supply the applicable info to your request. This mainly involves your dsl username and contact details.

Just out of curiousity, and this is by no means critisicm, why are you surfing this forum. I'm just curious to know, and think that it is a good thing that Talkom employees take part in these discussions. This gives us, the users, a chance to get some kind of an idea of what is going on, on the inside of (what I perceive to be) an endless loop of "passing the buck" whenever there is a problem. As with some of the ISP's who have employees surfing this forum, when problems arise they can be addressed by people in the know and not left open to speculation.

Well, I stumbled onto this site quite some time ago. At first I only checked all the posts and actually picked up alot of usefull stuff. I decided to participate because I might have some interresting info.

Ah yes good to know. So what's the inside scoop then? Anything intresting to tmention? Please do tell, you're amongst friends ;)

True, True. Now as you can imagine this does present a little problem. We are going to run out IP's pretty fast. Dunno what they're gonna do...

Regarding the forwarding of future changes/additions in our IP ranges... dunno if they actually will do that, but if there are in changes in IP ranges I will post it. Naturally you should double check that info to make sure that it is legit.

Any idea on what the amount of subscribers are at the moment?

Unfortuanately not. We don't get list of all the users. This is (as you could imagine) a security issue.

Sure, and pleased to hear :) Surely you guys are still ways of capping 65 536 people at one time? What would happen though, should the capeed level reach those numbers? Will some simply get no connection at all, a luck of the draw type thing or do you think it will be sorted before it gets to that?
