Hey all,

Is the international bandwith STILL down? Since last night it dropped from 80KB/s to 4KB/s download speed. This is completely insane.

Does anyone have the same problem? The Iburst website reports that all towers are UP and there are no degrations.

MTU at 1352, TCP Receive window at 255555.

ANY international site. They all download at 5kb/s or less. Local is fine, but Intl sucks big time! What could be wrong?

I've had number of timeouts to THIS site as well as a number of intl sites, incl internetfrog. Seems up now but s l o w :
Interfrog

GBM, It is slower than normal for sure and unstable as in going fast and then almost stopping but from my side it's not as bad as you seem to be experiencing.

Then again if it's an international problem we can hardly blame iBurst this time around.

It seams to be fine now. I did some streaming on YouTube and it downloaded at normal speeds. I just hope it stays this way. Since last week I've been having problems with Iburst.

I'll see how it goes. PS: Can anyone tell me the recommended value for the TCP RWIN?

Two schools of though, one that you already have: 255555
That is the helpdesk approved (means nothing) one that most people use.

then there is Gatecrasher's ( I think.. apologies if it isnt) theory of a RWIN that is low enough to allow you to turn off Windows Scaling.
This is optimally 62976 and the nWindow Scaling can be turned off.

try them out, if you notice any difference let me know, ive been wondeing about gatecrashers theory for a while.

I've made a breakthrough!! I found out that with Flashget my downloads are OK and with Firefox they freeze. Why is this?

The only difference is you are multithreading the download with FG and not with FF which makes a big difference and I've always used FG for downloading wherever posible.

Still not healthy....
Telkom

I feel your pain. I'm back to square one with Intl downloads. (Going at 6KB/s now) :(

Apparently there is a problem with Intl Sites on the Iburst network. I phoned the tech centre and they told me it should be fixed by the end of tomorrow.

My bandwidth was all but gone. A bit better now.

Yesterday & Sunday:
Pings to www.iburst.co.za fast and stable.
Pings to www.saix.co.za would gibe about 20% packet loss.
International - are we connected? Google ~ 90% loss

http (port 80) to Europe acceptable, but in general flaky.
https (443) slowwwwww!
ssh (port 22) all but dead. Type coffee, read, type discoonect :(

Today:
Bit better
Seems more stable, but still slow!
What gets my goat is 5lights on my UTD and the IBust speed test says:
Dowload speed 181kb
Upload speed 35.4kb

Every time I try to query am am asked to look at my MTU  which is 1352, reset my system, my UTD and told nothing is wrong.

That is it. Changing all my wbs.co.za mail accounts to a temp Google one. going ADSL - Bye bye IBurst.

you should just give them some time to find their feet i guess. they are still a new company and they need to grow
