International webspace

I posted ages ago about problems uploading on DSL to my international webspace.
It has gotten to a stage now where I cant get anything uploaded to the site.
I have spent the last 2 hours on the phone to Telkom and 2 both my isp's and I am just getting given the run around.

I have tried ftp client, ftp through IE and https through the members control panel on the site.
Nothing works except https but then only very small files under 100KB, anything bigger is results in timeouts.

I have tried with and without firewalls and still no luck.

Does anyone have any ideas, this is extremely frustrating.

edit: Does anyone else have problems on dsl uploading to international webspace?

Scp

Try using SCP instead of FTP. You can download a free client for Windows here: http://winscp.net/eng/index.php. If that doesnt work, host your site in SOuth Africa.

ask your hosting company to increase the timeout value on the web-server.

A friend of mine had the exact same problem, but on dial-up, he tried a different ISP and the problem went away. Weird one i have no problems on FTP using a SAIX shaped account.

I am getting the same upload speed I got when i was on 56 K.
