Hi.
Helping few colleagues of mne.
They are trying to find no more than R150-180/m internet connection - mainly for web search and e-mail ( +/- 200 MB - speed doesn't realy matters)

in Soweto and surroundings.

They do not have helkom's land lines.
Can not check them on the Neotel's coverage map - because the address doesn't really contains street names and numbers...
According to Vodacom there isn't 3G there either (.... hasn't checked the rest....).

Currently they've been ripped of - paying R25-35 / hour ( or often , depending on the number of visitors, 25- 30 minutes) in an internet cafe ( type of ..)

Any practical ideas ?!?
Tx.
P.S. Modem ( most probably second hand) shouldn't be more expensive than R 200-300 .
PC-s are running Win Me ( or 98 SP2) but do have USB ports.

NO IDEAS ??????

... such a hypocritical society ....

What about GPRS/Edge coverage. Wouldn't Edge access be acceptable ?
Most affordable phones at least support GPRS.

If I recall correctly, there's a new soccer stadium in Soweto yes ? I think the GSM guys will most certainly have 3G/HSPA access available there.

I'm pretty sure that at least one on the cellphone providers must have 3G and at least edge/gprs coverage in Soweto.
Not sure about Neotel / Iburst - best bet is to phone them.
Otherwise have a look at www.voizacom.co.za
