Couldn't find a better place to post this so feel free to suggest somewhere else on the forum.

I (and some people I work with) have been experiencing some strange behavior with Absa internet banking. At our office, after trying to log in you are immediately logged out without even getting into the system. We're using an ADSL connection in the office and the problem is experienced on multiple computers. There is no problem accessing the internet banking system from home also using ADSL. Has anybody experienced anything similar to this and managed to resolve it?

P.S. I have tried to e-mail Absa the last time this was a problem and after they replied a couple of weeks later requesting I "clear my cookies" the problem had already resolved itself somehow ...

What kind of link are you using at the office? If your office is using multiple ADSL lines that are bonded together this can occur sometimes. What I heard from a previous colleague of mine is that they had the same problem. The cause of the problem was that there is multipe servers involved when you log onto the Absa Internet Banking site and the connection to all of them apparently have to be from the same external IP address. And in the case where multiple adsl lines are used this does not always happen.

that and a proxy can cause the same issue

@3Com: ? :wtf:

@francoistk: Thanks for that information, we might have a situation somewhat along those lines. Do you think a load balancer could cause similar problems? We've got two 4mbps line that are shared between everyone in the office but if I remember correctly we've got some configuration that balances connections between two routers. If the external IPs are different during the login process due to the load balancing then maybe that''s what is causing this behaviour.

@ bboy: Not sure who our ISP is but they might have a proxy between us and the web, would have to check with our IT admin.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

its less likely to be a isp proxy, more likely to be your company proxy,but even more likely to be your load balancing routers, i'd just set static routes to absa* for one route
