I have constant buffering in all sites eg Netflix, YouTube, Dstv Now etc although I have a 50/50 speed. The speed test is perfect and still no solution from afrihost although I spent 2 hours on watsap fault finding. The agent did pings, I rebooted, and cleared caches etc but the problem persists. I am an ex telkom tech and I suspect that this is a back hall problem but these agents will not escalate to their engineers or tier 1 specialists and its very frustrating to stream any platform although i am being billed religiously monthly. Please assist.

Hi

It looks like you are in the Northern Region based on your IPv6 gateway.

We have on-network Akamai for DSTV, Google and Netflix caches so traffic to these streaming services doesn't leave our cabinet at Teraco. I had a look at our traffic levels and they are looking healthy across the board.

The issue might be FNO related or if you are using a vpn or proxy that might be causing streaming to be slow. What fibre network are you currently using?

I live at Kikuyu Balwin Properties and was told that Purple Forest is the fibre Fibre provider. I hope this helps bearing in mind that the agent said that there is no issues with the provider that is on record. Should I contact Purple Forest directly?

Hello.
You do not have to contact Purple Forest directly. Please drop us a PM so we can investigate further with the FNO

This sounds like it could be an MTU problem...

Which router model are you using? Please login to the router and check if the MTU is set up to 1500.
Using the Huawei router that afrihost sent and I just checked the MTU which is set at 1500. Is there anything else that I should check. Thanks for your support.

Just reset and saved MTU setting and it seems to be working now. Will monitor and revert if there are any other issues. Thank you again for your time and response. Deena

Hi. All my cell phone devices and the laptops are working fine however I'm still getting the buffering on my LG tv. I tried wired and wifi connections but still buffering and also with the other devices disconnected. I'm not sure if it could be the media box but I never had a problem before with it. Please advise.

What media box do you have because majority of them are honestly ****.I had about 7 all ranging from R300-1500 and all of them failed, slowed down and buffered on any media services after a month.Stopped having these problems after getting a smart tv. The only media box that was decent was the xiaomi one still being used

Hi.. I had a similar problem with my TV buffering and it turned out to be radio interference, I changed the WiFi channel on the router and problem magically disappeared. This after pulling lots of hair out .... Worth a try.

Sorry, I see you mentioned that you tried using LAN cable, which would not be affected by radio inteference. Try anyway, but sounds like your Media box unfortunately...
