Hi all, I know I must get a better internet option, but for now I'm stuck with virgin. What bothers me, isn't the speed, but when downloading something, it seems that the connection become dead for a minute or 2, and then working again, so it doesn't download all the time. Why is this, and can I do something to accelerate it?

'Internet Accelerator', otherwise known as a cattle prod. Activate whilst holding against sensitive parts of CellC engineer.:D

Looks a bit expensive! But what does such a accelerator actually do?

If you browse a site, it sends the request to the onspeed servers first and it gets sent to you at a faster speed than normal. It's not for DSL, but rather for any connection below 512k DSL.

You can get a 14 day trial, just download it here:

Kinda negates the benefit of Virgin cheap rates (they own shares in it?).

This stop - start business with the data stream is the killer.

I feel sorry for you my friend, but nothing can enhance VM's speed.

When i was on 56k i used and tried a lot of these internet accelerate programs all of them i tried doesn't work :(and some of them even screwed my pc up:mad:.My best advice is to stay away from these programs. And stick with your slow connection until u get a better one.

The only thing I don't like about Onspeed, is the fact that it compresses the images, thus rendering the quality of the image quite poor. :(

All accelerator software works in the same manner. There is just no way to boost speed without compromising in another field, ie. you cant get more than you put in - like perpetual motion - a pipe dream... :D
