Internet Connection between SA and other African countries?

For a) Telkom Internet and b) IS

If I download a file from a server based in the following countries:
Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique, Kenia, Zimbabwe

What route does the data follow to get to my PC, in other words, is there a "direct" link between those countries and SA, or does it go to somewhere else like the USA and then back to SA?

not sure.. me thinks for (a) round trip up and down sat-3/spain and back
