Hi I am currently battling to set-up internet connection sharing with my sentech connection. Is there anyone that can give me advice concerning the steps to take. I get ping reply's but can't browse.[?][?]

Also, if you're running Windows XP as your ICS host, you can try the following article: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;319661

Basically Winwoes XP Service Pack 1 has got an option that will automatically clamp the TCP MSS to the size of the internet connections' MTU, which should negate the need for tweaking all machines with DrTCP.

In linux, with the USB modem and normal PPP, MSS clamping can be enabled with a simple
"iptables -A FORWARD -p tcp --tcp-flags SYN,RST SYN -j TCPMSS --clamp-mss-to-pmtu" statement

Hi,

I use a WinXP Home system to share the connection in the same way I shared a diaulup connection. I had trouble until I rebooted all computers and disabled all firewalls, then enabled the firewall on the host computer only.

All worked fine from there, but I have this feeling I left the back door open.. lol

I know I have said this before, and it probably sounds like I am punting pppshar, but it works and apparently using another bit of software it allows games to be played. I am just trying to assist those other dummies like myself. And no I don't have games to play, so I have not tried Sockscap.

Extract from their site "Most games may work through a program called Sockscap.This application will allow any software to access the Internet as if it is directly connected to the Net.Instead of opening a range of ports to access game server, use it through Sockscap.This is freeware and you can download it here and install it in the client PC.
Configure this software for SOCKS 5 and use the game software or any application through this sockscap software. Also refer PPPshar Pro help file under Games section."

If anyone tries it let us know how (or if)it works

I know about sockscap; it works very well, I have been using it to traverse the firewall at work for more than 2 years now.

I used it succesfully for :-

VNC;
P2P;

and some internet related software that is not socks aware like outlook express and Forte Agent.

I have not tried it on any games though and I could not get it to work with MS Messenger.

I am using proxy+ and I have succesfully configured it to share four computers of which 2 are on a wireless network (802.11b)
