Hi

I have a TP-Link W8961ND router. Big family so at times there are between 15 to 20 devices connected to the router. Randomly the internet connection will drop off completely and restore itself after a few minutes (DSL and Internet lights remain solid green all the time on the modem) I have tried a spare modem but still experience this problem. I had telkom reset my ports. Could it be too many devices connected to the modem at once? Please help

Amount of clients will only affect the LAN side not the WAN side.

So if the WAN link is dropping like you think it is (even though the lights remain green) then it's not the number of devices connecting.

If the WAN stays online as the lights suggest then it's possible the LAN is getting overloaded and the router maybe running out of memory or something.

The Logs on the device (which might need to be enabled) should tell you quite easily if the DSL is dropping or not. The fact that you say another Router does the same tells me it's the line itself, also the fact that it takes a few minutes.

THANKS, will have a look at the logs tonight and post

No idea what the TP-Link logs look like but normally you should see something like WAN UP / WAN DOWN or the DSL Sync stats populated that suggest a reconnect happened.
