Hi

I wonder if anyone can assisit. I have poor and unreliable 3 g connectivity at home with various routers I have tried. I have bought poynting high gain antennas and have had varied success. Have tried the following network operators, Vodacom, MTN and 8ta.

I suspect I know what the problems is I live adjacent to a massive concrete water tower.

Want to put in ADSL but not sure what will give me good bandwidth.

Did you try the Poynting antenna in all directions? The antenna needs to point in the direction of the 3G tower to get the best signal, otherwise is will not be any good. I wouldn't expect all the operators to be located on one side of of your house, on the other side of the water tower.
Try Cell C as well. Get a pre-paid SIM (about R1) and test it with R5 airtime. For the amount you have already spent it would not hurt to try all of them.

A good starting point is knowing where the towers are.

In your case :-
Down first avenue one block down from Monkey Foutain.
Down Bram Fisher, opposite the paint store,
Further down BF at the next road where the alarm shop/house is.
