internet down, intranet working! WTF!!

can anyone explain this to me, its not making any sense!
even our it guys are bogged with this one, its only my pc
intranet(email, our crap system is working)
internet is down

didnt try that, it guy is here, he deleted and reinstalling ie7

he re-installed ie7, repaired windows! and turned out to be the IP address

asked him for FF he said its against the companies it policy to instal such things
