Internet Explorer - replacement on MAC

Ok, so IE has been discontinued on MAC platform (for quite a while I think already), and I use FF in any case (prefer it to Safari).

Now, some sites can only be used with IE, but IE tab (FF extension) is not supported on MAC.

My question is this: Is there a browser available that can load IE specific sites, asp pages, etc?

You can set the user agent in Safari and Opera (probably firefox too but I dont use firefox much). If that doesnt work - perhaps because the site uses ActiveX then you're pretty much out of luck in native OsX - try virtualization.

Yeah, you can set it, but the ActiveX is the problem (I think).
I do run parallels Desktop (VERY impressed by the way), but I was hoping there was something else that can "pretend" to be IE :D

Not sure how parallels works - still waiting for my intel mini to arrive - but why not set up a completely separate disk image just for IE - that way every-time it get contaminated you can just recreate it. :)
 
That can work :)
Parallels creates a full VM on the Mac Disk ... I have to redo mine in any case, as I made it 15Gb when I installed, but only using about 3Gb for the actual machine. So yeah, can make it bigger but not smaller :)
But it works great for Visio and IE ... and extremely fast (even with only using 256Mb memory - outperforms my HP NX9110 with 768Mb :D)

Yeah, I just saw parallels in action, the dude opened Excel with 256 MB of ram, its was bloody instantaneous. :eek:
Much faster than my Evo N1050v with 1 GB of ram.
 
Have you tried Camino. Nice snappy browser.

There are also plenty of tweaks you can use on Safari like AcidSearch and PithHelmet - these two add-ons are the reason Safari is my primary.
