Internet games again....

Don't think it does dom. I've got it, but only played single player.
I think a game has 2 b really popular 4 local server support as we have so few online gamers(thanx 2 u know who). For instance, i have Warcraft3, but i only play on the Int Servers. The local one has a fair following, but i find that most players spend more time chatting than playing. I have ISDN and it handles the overseas servers really well. FPS games are, of course, a different story.

Umm 10.0.0.1 is your routers internal IP so im fairly sure there will be nobody connecting to you, If you want to give people access you will need to use a dynamic dns updater service or Hamachi(or similar)

cod server

ok rocket boy i'll start it now and see if you can connect please

Okay im sure you arent getting this so i will explain:

1. Im assuming you are using a Telkom ADSL router which has the IP of 10.0.0.1 at the router.

2. That router is assigning DHCP addresses to your lan.

What those things mean is that the address 10.0.0.1 is internal and the routers IP not your PC's IP. So only people who are on your local lan will be able to connect, anyone who is external wont be able to.

Your router has two IP addresses one external i.e on the internet and one internal i.e your local lan if you wanted to run a server you would need to setup a port forward in your routers NAT to forward requests from your router to your pc and back.

[root@Docarch ~]# ping 10.0.0.1:28960
ping: unknown host 10.0.0.1:28960
[root@Docarch ~]# ping 196.25.1.1
PING 196.25.1.1 (196.25.1.1) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 196.25.1.1: icmp_seq=1 ttl=250 time=28.8 ms
64 bytes from 196.25.1.1: icmp_seq=2 ttl=250 time=27.9 ms

This shows you that your server is NOT accessible from the internet to people who would want to connect to you.

My suggestion would be to get Hamachi (google it) and install that, then setup a name for your network and a password, then post that for people to connect.

hope that helps

LOL! Reminds me of the story of the hacker that tried to hack 127.0.0.1

To easily connect to local servers in BF2, the following works brilliantly:

After logging in to the Master Server, click on "multiplayer", then click "stop update" to halt the automatic update of all servers globally. Then in the dialogue box at the top of the list of servers at "server name", type in:

-= sgs

and press enter.

All the SGS servers will pop up! Double-click on the server name and...PROFIT!

oh well thanx was just screwing around well is there any south african servers for star wars republic commando

Hey

Most of the local servers are listed on games.saix.net, take alook around there and see what is available.
