Hi

Can Anyone suggest which bank to use for an Internet Merchant Account, I want to signup with MyGate but I need a merchant account to use them.. Anyone know if Capitec offer Internet merchant accounts ?

I use capitec from my retail business, but need to find out about the Internet service. For my website I use Paypal but without any technical issues, the only problem is if I charge a client x along with a transaction fee, paypal seems to also charge the client a transaction fee and along with the exchange rate the client ends up paying approximately 5% on top of what I charge.

We have merchant accounts with the big 4. FNB support is superior re queries, chargebacks, fraud, etc but Nedbank has been more flexible with rates. I'm honestly not sure about Capitec but afaik, they don't offer merchant services.

Just a reminder, the transaction fees that the bank and gateway are a cost of sale. It's against Visa and MasterCard TOS to pass this cost onto the client on checkout.

As far as MyGate or PayGate go, I'd recommend either one. We use MyGate as a primary and use PayGate for debit card processing and as a redundancy should MyGate go down. Both of them have pretty good support but I find MyGate tends to have a faster resolution time; and more technically knowledgable first level support.

Hi,

I am the head of business development at MyGate. With regard to Capitec, they do not currently do eCommerce credit card acquiring.

I would advise looking at ABSA for an Internet Merchant Account facility as they are currently being very dynamic and competitive with regard to management and rates.

If you would pop me an email to [email protected] or call in - 021 551 9758 - and ask for myself, I would like to advise you in more detail.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Best Regards,

William Adams
