Hello all

I have been reading posts after posts and went through most of Mybroadband's emails regarding internet packages etc.

It is a head scratcher for me, and still dont really know what plan/solution I need to get, and from what provider to get it from.

One problem, I have a limited budget.

Basically I would like to get something in the following area:

4 - 8mbps
Can be adsl
need to be uncapped but can have a fair usage policy.
Im into Social Networking, Emails, "sometimes" watch videos on youtube(I download it rather to watch later), and the downloading of stuff.

Above is what I need it for. Currently I have the MTN package that they brought out for a limited time and just suddenly took off the market, the 3G, uncapped wireless deal(Being throttled after 3GB). Its doing what I need, but the throttling speeds can be horrible sometimes...and I reach 3GB within 5 days.

I only have it because its a nice deal and I cant quite find anything for the price I currently pay (R315)...this might be the reason why they took it off the market.

Please can anyone give me some advice what we can get for R500 or less. Alao anything a little more than R500, because then I will split it with our tenants that will just use it for social media and emails.

Thanks in advance

First what line speed can you get https://secure.telkom.co.za/today/ucm/ many people can't get 4mb/s.

Do you have a Telkom line currently? This costs R189 per month whether you use it or not so you have to add that on top of the costs if you don't have one.

Line rental for 4mb/s = R299 and 8mb/s = R399 from Telkom but you can shave off a few Rand by letting an ISP handle the line for you like with Axxess https://www.axxess.co.za/dsl/lines 4mb/s = R275 8mb/s = R355. I think with Afrihost you get a few deductions for every product you have with them but I'm not sure on this.

Looks like you would only be using around 20 gigs a month at 3gigs per 5 days, so a 100gig cap will suit you perfectly https://www.afrihost.com/site/product/adsl_capped or https://www.axxess.co.za/dsl/capped both are running a special with double data but I don't know for how long. Afrihost 50+50 for R99 and Axxess 40+ 40 for R89. You get free uncapped time on both packages I know Axxess is from 12pm-6am (6 hours) and I think Afrihost is from 12pm to 6pm (18 hours) in this time you can download all your big downloads.

These two ISP's are generally the cheapest.

Line rental R189 + R275 + R89 = R553
