Hi I'm intrested in learning about internet security where can you go about doing this. Is there any good courses to take or do you have to learn it yourself?

If not done, install a firewall on your computer, read all the posts in this section of the forum, read through www.grc.com, listen to podcasts at www.securitynow.info, search google for any other questions

Courses

Hey,

There are quite a few good courses in ZA that you can go on depending on your security competency levels. UNISA has some nice courses , and RAU also has some specific courses for you to do(I've specifically done ones at UNISA and RAU).

If you need anything more in depth, technical courses, there are plenty international and locally based security companies that specialise in IT security training, including attack and penetration testing training, security defense training and so fourth.

If you see a flashing banner stating "your computer is infected, click here to disinfect" with "free software"....er...dont

My room-mate did that just before we moved to a place with no phone line and my PC was sooo virus infected with porn pop-ups and ads it wasnt funny.

Great big pain in the bum trying to remove them.

P.S. - Your PC will be over-virus infected within the first like 20mins online if you dont have a firewall.

When you say "Internet Security" You must remember that there are many different areas in "Internet Security"

You would have to decide in which area you would be interested in...

It would be a good idea to visit some security sites and look around to see the different areas of security...
