I have followed the instructions for setting up ICS, but when I right click on my wireless connection to share, it does not give me the sharing tab. How do i get that?

I have a laptop that connects to wireless network and my pc connects via cable to my laptop and I want my pc to get internet via the cable then using my laptops wireless connection. I cant get it to work. I have vista.

How do I share the internet connection?

You have to have 2 enabled network interfaces before the Sharing tab would be visible.

The solution should be simple:
1) Enable both LAN & WiFi connections on the laptop
2) Set the IPv4 addresses to Automatically obtain on the laptop for both the LAN & WiFi connections, as well as on the desktop for the LAN connection
3) Go to the WiFi connection's properties on the laptop and share it
4) Plug the cable in and out to let the desktop detect an IP address, or go to its properties and click Repair

Could you perhaps also post the link to the guide that you followed?

i Followed the windows instructions, but the sharing tab is not there for the wireless connection. The sharing tab is there for the lan connection.

1) lan and wifi are both enabled. my pc can explore my laptops files, so it connects like that fine, but just no internet. 2) ip4 are all set to auto. 3) when i go to wifi connection properties, the sharing tab is not there.

how do i enable network interfaces? how to do i do that to get sharing tab?

Are you sure that you haven't by any chance already enabled ICS on the LAN connection? If you've done that by accident, then you need to disable it and then see if the Sharing tab appears on the WiFi connection.

You enable the network interface by right-clicking it and selecting Enable/Disable :)
^^ For that you need to be in Network and Sharing Center -> Change adapter settings OR Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections

Thanks for your help. I managed to tether my pc to my SGS and the used the SGS wifi instead of my laptops. This was a temporary work around!!

shot pada!! all i had to do was switch the wired connection to non sharing and the wireless to sharing.!! woot !
