Howzit,
I finally got a 4Mb uncapped line from IS to my house. I used to connect via wirless to a friends same connection and I always got disconnected playing games. I thought i was a crap wireless link.
Now Im plugged into the router with a staic IP and I still get disconnects in BFBC2. My line is empty.
When I do play its smooth then i get "server connection lost". I even get it at 2 in the morning.
Guildwars is unplayable with a 10,000ms ping :wtf:
BF2 seems to work ok.
Sometimes I get a good session and can play for a few hours but often not.
Anyone else with the same connection issues?
Both worked fine on a webafrica account when I bought 1 Mb to tide me over till IS connected me.

If its the cheap IS uncapped account.. R539 one, either upgrade to normal uncapped with them for a couple of thousand or switch to Mweb. IS`s uncapped is terrible.

Well the IS uncapped unshaped accounts work very well for games. The only limitation is the meagre cap limit which is followed by shaping. You sure you not being shaped already?

I am certainly being shaped as Im buying the shaped account. I kinda expected that 1 user on the line using ports that are not http, pop, ssh etc (their prioritised ports) might work but I guess its just shaped to death.

I mailed IS and got a call from them (Their support is pretty fast) and was told that the shaped account is not good for gaming. Id like to second that and confirm that it is virtually unusable for FPS games. Do not get a shaped account from IS if you want to do online gaming. Id go on to say its gotten worse over the last few months. Web browsing is ok....wow...
I am disappointed that a game that worked on dial up is not able to function on a 4Mb uncapped shaped line. Very sad.

On another note old school BF2 works like a charm...there must be some keep alive to the EA servers while playing BFBC2 that does not like shaped bandwidth. Guildwars still gives me 10000ms pings tho :/
