Internet Solutions are sharks, watch out.

I had a dsl 512 uncapped contract with them(well apparently i still do).

The contract ran out 7 months ago. I only realized this a few days back, so with other more sensible offers available i phoned them to cancel my dsl. I spoke to a lady & she very sarcastic said to me that i have to cancel my contract.

OK no problem seems reasonable, ja right. Then she informed me as soon as the letter is received the contract will stop 3 months later, in other words they will still charge me for another 3 months.

I mean come on no one phoned me from them to tell me my contract is up, do i want a new contract?

I would have replied "o Hell no....".

I phoned again to speak to somebody els about this & they said exactly the same :mad::mad::mad::mad:

Why was i not phoned & giving a choice, the contract ended a while ago? This is unfair & unjust, seems like Telkom is not the only company out there to reem you for every peny you have.

The point of this post is to warn other people about them & their way of locking you in, making sure they bleed you dry while they look for another customer in your place(even though the contract has ended.

As far as i know mweb does the same, but just not for 3 months, but only for 1 month. And the best part it, you dont even have to have a contract. They do it to normal month to month customers.

forgive me for being stupid, but are you saying they automatically renewed your contract 7 months ago? Were they taking money off your account for these 7 months? Is there a clause in the original contract you signed about automatic renewal?

Yep they took my money for the last 7 months, as for the contract no automatic renewal clause.

just stop the debit order from the bank. what does the contract say about the expiring thereof and cancellation afterwards?

Are you sure there was no renewal contract? IS normally build in an automatic renewal into all of their business products. The three months is actually better than most of their contracts, normally its an automatic annual renewal unless 3 months notice is given before the renewal date.

Look Mat i can give you the ladies name who handles our account, we spoke to her almost a year ago to cancel this contract because IS service was going up sh_t creek. We were never told by her that this is the procedure to follow, all she told us is that someone will phone us for the renewal at the end of the contract & we can cancel it then with no hassles. Clearly no one phoned & i forgot to cancel it myself, been out of the country for a while.

The point is i don't hove to explain myself here over do's & dont's, the way you do Business is the same a selling your first born to the devil.

Little clause here & there & every where, you ain't going nowhere buddy "the contract has a clause", we now want your soul.

SpySam - You come here complaining. We are just trying to ascertain facts. When you sign a contract, the agreement between parties is reduced to writing. It is that that covers subsequent interactions. So all we are trying to find out is what you agreed to. Is it stipulated in the contract what happens at contract expiry? If what is happening is what happened then you agreed to it. If not then IS is in the wrong. simple.

dude just reverse the payment when it comes off your bank account
did you read the contract what does it state?

if you cannot find this 3 month thing then reverse the payment man

also on a side note, you let them take your money man
did you not notice the amount coming off your bank account for 7 months?

Rule No. 1 - When joining an ISP... NEVER sign a contract, always go month to month.
Rule No. 2 - IF in doubt, refer to Rule No. 1

Either the contract you signed with them states the terms for cancellation you're being quoted or it doesn't. If it does, sucks to be you. My mom always told me not to sign anything I hadn't read. If not then screw IS. Cancel the debit order and move on.

Sounds to me as though IS have crap a cancellation policy, dunno if that makes them sharks to be honest.

And ja, who signs contracts with ISPs anyway?

If you read the contract you will see it stated you must give 3 months cancellation notice and that you will get automatically renewed. We have loads of uncapped IS routers and am well aware of this fact.
