Internet Solutions Ripping People Off

I purchased a 512k Business Fiber 2 weeks ago paying R 2500 per month, I was then emailed a newsletter informing me that as a Business satellite user (They got it wrong) I could upgrade to Fiber for an addition 449 per month.

Now here is the rip off. I called me ISP and asked what the F was going on, to be told this is only for satellite customers. So I end up paying R 2500 for a service that is been sold for R 1799. So I ask if I can get rid of my contract and then sign up for an uncapped satellite and then upgrade to fiber for R 1799. The answer no.

I spoke to one of the managers at the ISP and she told me that they have had this problem with a couple of users and Internet Solutions will not budge. So RIP us off. I will never support or purchase anything from IS again, its off to telkom for me. At least you know where the are screwing you.
 
If they're not supplying you with the service that you originally agreed to (in this case fiber), the contract would be null and void, wouldn't it? Maybe put a stop order on your account as well so the payment doesn't go through for next month

They are supplying him with the service though, just at a higher price, but still a price he agreed to.
 
I Initially signed up with them at R 2500 ex

They then launched a special which will allow users to now sign up and get the same service for R 1799 ex. So I can cancel my contract with them however they will not let me sign up on the special ?
 
This is a very big problem, but if your ISP can talk to there account manager with IS then may be something can be arranged. IS ADSL satellite has been struggling lately and that is why may be they offering this special to take off some load/ reliability strain. Although this special is very troubling for users and ISP's as well. My take on this that once most of the satellite users have been upgraded then they will probably reduce your prices too. They trying to first get the volumes to cover some costs.
 
but telkom is more reliable considering the volumes of users on there network. I know everyone hates telkom but who else then. Neotel is not going to make life any better.. they probably will same.
 
Just cancel with them and let your wife, girlfriend, brother, sister, father or mother sign up :)

don't make a judgement on Neotel yet. Who knows...maybe they will pleasantly surprise us...
 
government has a stake in neotel and telkom both, so what competition? complete privatisation is the solution to many of these issues. It has worked in india. In the mid 90's indian government has loosened there grip on international interests in the country which also led to some privatisation and some major improvement in infrastructure and you can see today how well they doing, not that it was the only reason for the economic boom... may be I am drifting from the post topic here :).. oops.

But they've managed to mess up a few driveways and pavements to date.:eek::rolleyes:

Personally I don't think they will make any difference to the service we get in SA.
Prices are going to drop whether or not neotel even exists, so when it does drop don't go thinking it's because of neotel's "competition".
 
exactly they haven't even launched yet! the delay in Neotel gives you an idea what to expect...
