Internet speed completely crap...

I just put a Vodacom sim card into my HTC Desire, and the phone is incredibly fast, but it just went faster! It is a web centric phone, so the internet makes a huge difference...My question is, why is MTN so much slower? I had 3 bars on Vodacom, I have 3 bars on MTN....But the internet is like 10 times faster on Vodacom. Why? It can't be my location, because I drive all over Pretoria and Midrand every day, and I have NEVER experienced speeds like that on MTN! Are they just truly so bad and inferior compared to Vodacom when it comes to speeds?

I have good coverage here in E.L. And MTN's way faster than Vodacom. Maybe it was their odd day.

I don't think so. Unless it's been an odd day for them for the last 3 years! I have not experienced speeds like i did just now since i got my phone a month ago, and on my previous phone it was the same. I drive through the country's capitol all day, so surely i should get to spots that has their fastest provision at some point? A youtube video on mtn loads about 15 seconds, vodacom was 2! Google street view takes about 3 seconds on vodacom, mtn like 20 seconds. Mtn is always like this, been for the past few years...new contract, so gonna be a while before I can port back.

VC rolling out HSPA to selected areas.
My E5830 Huawei 3 network modem always only showed HSDPA access. But Tuesday night it showed HSPA access. I did a double take. Way faster load times and upload times. I hope there will be a firmware update to upgrade my works K3520 3G stick to use HSPA too.

MTN's 3G/HSDPA is most of the time crappy on our 7.2 tower, but since yesterday 12h00 AM it's EDGE all the way up to now.

For some reason I get 2 bars of 3G now, I have had none since I got my phone....It sucks! The MTN network is really really bad beyond belief! I am so porting back to Vodascum!
