Where do you see yourself in 5 years time ?
Hey this is a very important question and it's critical to answer it truthfully. I can explain why with a personal recent story.
So I applied for this job and got called in for the interview. Everything went great and I passed all the tests and got short-listed as the preferred candidate. All's going swimmingly until I get asked that question, and I answer it truthfully, revealing that the job I've applied for isn't my dream job and I'd rather see it as a stepping stone to growing further within the company in my dream role (which I described).
The company's director, who was in the interview, said to me that because of my honesty he didn't feel I was right for the job I was applying for at all, and I'd end up hating it (and he was right). He said he wouldn't offer me this job, but he was keeping me on the books for another job they were discussing and if that came up they'd call me back in. He swore he would keep to his word.
He did. I got called back within only a few weeks, got the new job offer, and it's a far better job that I'll enjoy a lot more. I'm starting in July.
So bottom line: the truth sets you free. Unless you *really* need the money, just be super honest in an interview about what you want and what you'd like to achieve, and if you're at the right company they'll listen to you and it'll all work out. Otherwise just lie and say that all you've ever wanted is this job you're applying for.
