The woman stopping a total grid collapse in South Africa

Eskom System Operator general manager Isabel Fick has one of the toughest jobs in South Africa — ensuring the country's transmission grid is stable by carefully balancing demand and supply.

Despite the enormous pressure, she still describes the job as exciting and rewarding because she makes a positive difference in her colleagues and the public's lives.

“Interpreting data and coming to conclusions without bringing reality into the equation is not a fair analysis.”

The reality that Eskom is a big fat flop Isabel?

Public service since 1995. Raking in that taxpayer money while watching things fall apart and getting a free pass. Must be ghe

Public service since 1995. Raking in that taxpayer money while watching things fall apart and getting a free pass. Must be nice.
So she is dedicated to serve the public, working for a company that everyone hates, holding on to her position despite unfair BEE etc. Actually one of the people in the background that helps to keep the lights on. Taxpayer money is well deserved here my friend….your focus should be on the cadres….and in the meantime we are burning billions of rands in diesel as we speak. Very nice indeed….maybe you must leave your job and do some public service under the ANC rule and let us know how it goes….

You're defending her cos she's white. Be honest. Every state owned enterprise is failing. Including the two that she has been involved in. Turning a blind eye because she happens to be the right colour is exactly what the government does with their own people. Don't fall into the same trap.

Lol it has nothing to do with her being white! I am defending, as a tax payer, a dedicated hard working person under the corrupt rule, working for a company that everyone hates. Eskom was one of the best power utilities in the world before the ANC desroyed it, it’s a fact. Yes every state owned enterprise has failed, or will eventually fail at the current trajectory. Thousands of people from all races are working hard to keep the lights on, and they don’t get the necasary recognitation. Now one person gets highlighted, and some people think taxpayers money are wasted. I rest my case

Sure. She's getting the same double standard treatment that de ruyter got but hey let's just pretend that it doesn't exist.

Black person works for government for 30 years at 2 failed institutions - cadre, corrupt, incompetent, BEE.

White person works for for government for 30 years at 2 failed institutions - hero, fighting the odds, one of the good ones.

Pretty common narrative that I've heard from our fellow 'incorruptibles'

There is logic you are missing here.

In the last 30 years, which type of person get jobs based on their skin colour ?

Given that she is the head of system operator and our grid hasn't collapsed with all the crap that the generation side of the business has thrown at her and her team, I'd say she has been doing a decent enough job under very trying circumstances.

Doesn't detract from his point that the other poster is using being racist here. It's kinda blatant.
