Thursday, September 24, 2009 9:05 AM Subject: Netanyahu at his best

Even those who aren't particularly sympathetic to Israel's Benjamin Netanyahu, could get a good measure of satisfaction from this interview with British Television during the retaliation against Hamas' shelling of Israel.

The interviewer asked him: "How come so many more Palestinians have been killed in this conflict than Israelis?" (A nasty question if there ever was one!)

Netanyahu: "Are you sure that you want to start asking in that direction?"

Interviewer: (Falling into the trap) Why not?

Netanyahu: "Because in World War II more Germans were killed than British and Americans combined, but there is no doubt in anyone's mind that the war was caused by Germany's aggression. And in response to the German blitz on London, the British wiped out the entire city of Dresden, burning to death more German civilians than the number of people killed in Hiroshima. Moreover, I could remind you that in 1944, when the R.A.F. tried to bomb the Gestapo Headquarters in Copenhagen, some of the bombs missed their target and fell on a Danish children's hospital, killing 83 little children. Perhaps you have another question?"

Apparently, Benjamin Netanyahu gave another interview and was asked about Israel's occupation of Arab lands. His response was, "It's our land". The reporter (CNN) was stunned - read below "It's our land..." It's important information since we don't get fair and accurate reporting from the media and facts tend to get lost in the jumble of daily events.

"Crash Course on the Arab-Israeli Conflict." Here are overlooked facts in the current & past Middle East situation. These were compiled by a Christian university professor:

BRIEF FACTS ON THE ISRAELI CONFLICT TODAY...

1. Nationhood and Jerusalem: Israel became a nation in 1312 BC, two thousand (2000) years before the rise of Islam.

2. Arab refugees in Israel began identifying themselves as part of a Palestinian people in 1967, two decades after the establishment of the modern State of Israel.

3. Since the Jewish conquest in 1272 BC, the Jews have had dominion over the land for one thousand (1000) years with a continuous presence in the land for the past 3,300 years.

4. The only Arab dominion since the conquest in 635 lasted no more than 22 years.

5. For over 3,300 years, Jerusalem has been the Jewish capital. Jerusalem has never been the capital of any Arab or Muslim entity. Even when the Jordanians occupied Jerusalem, they never sought to make it their capital, and Arab leaders did not come to visit.

6. Jerusalem is mentioned over 700 times in Tanach, the Jewish Holy Scriptures. Jerusalem is not mentioned once in the Koran.

7. King David founded the city of Jerusalem. Mohammed never came to Jerusalem.

8. Jews pray facing Jerusalem. Muslims pray with their backs toward Jerusalem.

9. Arab and Jewish Refugees: in 1948 the Arab refugees were encouraged to leave Israel by Arab leaders promising to purge the land of Jews. Sixty-eight percent left (many in fear of retaliation by their own brethren, the Arabs), without ever seeing an Israeli soldier. The ones who stayed were afforded the same peace, civility, and citizenship rights as everyone else.

10. The Jewish refugees were forced to flee from Arab lands due to Arab brutality, persecution and pogroms.

11. The number of Arab refugees who left Israel in 1948 is estimated to be around 630,000. The number of Jewish refugees from Arab lands is estimated to be about 800,000.

12. Arab refugees were INTENTIONALLY not absorbed or integrated into the Arab lands to which they fled, despite the vast Arab territory. Out of the 100,000,000 refugees since World War II, theirs is the only refugee group in the world that has never been absorbed or integrated into their own people's lands. Jewish refugees were completely absorbed into Israel, a country no larger than the state of New Jersey.

13. The Arab-Israeli Conflict: the Arabs are represented by twenty two separate nations, not including the Palestinians. There is only one Jewish nation. The Arab nations initiated all five wars and lost. Israel defended itself each time and won.

14. The PLO's Charter still calls for the destruction of the State of Israel. Israel has given the Palestinians most of the West Bank land, autonomy under the Palestinian Authority, and has supplied them.

15. Under Jordanian rule, Jewish holy sites were desecrated and the Jews were denied access to places of worship. Under Israeli rule, all Muslim and Christian sites have been preserved and made accessible to people of all faiths.

16. The UN Record on Israel and the Arabs: of the 175 Security Council resolutions passed before 1990, 97 were directed against Israel.

17. Of the 690 General Assembly resolutions voted on before 1990, 429 were directed against Israel.

18. The UN was silent while 58 Jerusalem synagogues were destroyed by the Jordanians.

19. The UN was silent while the Jordanians systematicallydesecrated the ancient Jewish cemetery on the Mount of Olives.

20. The UN was silent while the Jordanians enforced an apartheid-like a policy of preventing Jews from visiting the Temple Mount and the Western Wall.

These are incredible times. We have to ask what our role should be. What will we tell our grandchildren about what we did when there was a turning point in Jewish destiny, an opportunity to make a difference?

Where is the source?

Looks pretty one sided to me, especially when you quote an interview with Nethanyahoo.

Again until you provide a source you coulda made it all up.

thank Fudzy grayston iss just trolling a usual

Did you read the Snopes article:

In fact, this piece originated in mid-2006, when a 34-day military conflict between Hezbollah paramilitary forces and the Israeli military took place in Lebanon and northern Israel during July and August of that year. During that period, former Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu (he had held that position from 1996 to 1999) undertook a number of news interviews in which he responded to criticisms that Israel's military response to Hezbollah rocket attacks were disproportionate and were killing an inordinately high number of Lebanese civilians.

The item reproduced above is purportedly a portion of a transcript from a television news piece, one in which Netanyahu trapped a snarky British interviewer into getting his verbal comeuppance by providing an apt historical analogy when asked to explain why "so many more Palestinians have been killed in this conflict than Israelis." (The 2006 version referenced "Lebanese" rather than "Palestinians"; the substitution of the latter was an attempt to make this item appear current to 2009.)

in response to the German blitz on London, the British wiped out the entire city of Dresden, burning to death more German civilians than the number of people killed in Hiroshima.

The City of Dresden established in 2004 that a maximum of 25 000 victims died while the Hiroshima death toll was some 80 000.

The destruction of Dresden had a lot to do with demands by Stalin for the allies to provide assistance to the advancing Russian armies.

Marine1, do you actually think about the propaganda you copy and paste before posting it? As if receiving this email spam numerous times over the last few years (it used to be about lebanon) is not enough, now we have to see it on myBB too!

Do you actually want to compare Germany's aggression with that of the occupied Palastinians? Are you sure you want to go there?

BRIEF FACTS ON THE ISRAELI CONFLICT TODAY...

1. Nationhood and Jerusalem: Israel became a nation in 1312 BC, two thousand (2000) years before the rise of Islam.

Duh, you want a cookie for this? You comparing what? Religion that follows on a long line of 27? prophets to a nation(claimed). How is this comparison valid? 2ndly.. Jerusalem wa founded in 1800BC by the Cannaanites who were the earliest inhabitants in the area existing since 3000BC. The Israelites + Philistines arrive 800yrs after.

2. Arab refugees in Israel began identifying themselves as part of a Palestinian people in 1967, two decades after the establishment of the modern State of Israel.

Its called unity.. The state of Israel didn't occupy unoccupied land either. People were displaced and they were of varying culture and religion not just arab mulsims as i suspect you will insinuate based on point1. I suspect you will try and claim zero nationhood for palestinian people.. lmfao.

3. Since the Jewish conquest in 1272 BC, the Jews have had dominion over the land for one thousand (1000) years with a continuous presence in the land for the past 3,300 years.

BIG FAIL! You will not be able to provide me with a single independantly verified piece or shred of evidence to support this other than that supported by Israel. I dare you to find some histroical evidence that justifies this claim of 3300 yrs, heck try and prove 1000yrs continuous existence(tribes moving around is not continuous neither is splitting the kingdom in two or being overthrown by others who occupy the land administratively). Please you will get an hornary archaeologist degree from every reputable university on this planet if you could as well as guest status in Israel(you can't be a special citizen if you not jewish and can't speak hebrew).

4. The only Arab dominion since the conquest in 635 lasted no more than 22 years.

This i will have to look up.. but you make no mention of later take overs that lasted a century or more.

5. For over 3,300 years, Jerusalem has been the Jewish capital. Jerusalem has never been the capital of any Arab or Muslim entity. Even when the Jordanians occupied Jerusalem, they never sought to make it their capital, and Arab leaders did not come to visit.

LMFAO. Saladin took over Jerusalem, if i'm not mistake he was the leader, arab and lead a LARGE populous. 2ndly I am noticing a trend to conveniently refer to Arab and the muslim/Islam where it suits this discussion. It should be mentioned that before Mecca became centre of the Islamic world, Jerusalem was.

6. Jerusalem is mentioned over 700 times in Tanach, the Jewish Holy Scriptures. Jerusalem is not mentioned once in the Koran.

See what what i mean? 1stly besides this having no relavance this is blatently wrong. it is mentioned atleast once but NOT as 'Jerusalem'. The dome of the rock IS mentioned and travel to the city.

7. King David founded the city of Jerusalem. Mohammed never came to Jerusalem.

The city predates him. Mohammed never claimed to be there physically .. ever!

8. Jews pray facing Jerusalem. Muslims pray with their backs toward Jerusalem.

BS, unless you are directly beweet the two cities. Geography 101. Muslims prayed towards Jerusalem BEFORE they ever prayed towards Mecca

Heresay + utter BS(the last part). There are millions of refugees scattered all over the world, find them and ask them.

10. The Jewish refugees were forced to flee from Arab lands due to Arab brutality, persecution and pogroms.

lol and yet they live freely still there but it does bring up an interesting point, check escalation of relgious persecution in arab/Islamic society throughout the centuries and you will find it only flares up when there is massive conflict on religious basis against them.

11. The number of Arab refugees who left Israel in 1948 is estimated to be around 630,000. The number of Jewish refugees from Arab lands is estimated to be about 800,000.

No idea.. need to look this up. Again point is..? 2ndly Arab vs Jewish.. Jews are a relgion of people not a race. Get it right.

1stly refugees are NEVER absorbed into a society or country because then they wouldnt be refugee's would they? they'd become part of the nation they live in. The point of NOT absorbing them was INTENTIONAL, you go that right.. but it wasn't entirely due to the Arab states itself either. By taking on another nations nationality you forego ANY rights of return. It was decided by both refugees and the states not to allow this as it would result in ZERO justice for the refugees. If there can be one critism here its that the arabs were foolish enough to think that this problem would resolve itself in a short time... 60yrs on refugees are now almost 6 million i think based on UN reports(thats why i don't think the numbers above are anything close to correct) which makes up the largest refugee problem in the world.

2ndly Jewish refugees had nationality.. WWII didn't just happen and people suddenly started to exist with zero recollection of whence they from. You have to look at the history of Europe prior to WWII for almost 3 centuries to see the real picture don't you. Jews were persecuted in europe, hell thats why many lived in arab countries prior late 19th century but after the holocaust they suddenly had something they could point to. The state of Israel, which came out in in the late 40's was established for THESE people as a european compensation. Funny though that europeans didn't exactly think twice about that they were doing with regards to the current populous in the region.. but guilt is setting in and give another 40-50yrs we will arabs doing the same.

13. The Arab-Israeli Conflict: the Arabs are represented by twenty two separate nations, not including the Palestinians. There is only one Jewish nation. The Arab nations initiated all five wars and lost. Israel defended itself each time and won.

Israel has never ever fought alone. get over yourself, if the US cuts spending along with europe i;'d love to see them last more than a handful yrs let alone fight a war after uhm.. 10yrs? See then who uses nukes as more than just a deterrent. AGAIN.. WTF is up with dumb arguments. Jews = religion != race. Arab = race != religion. get it right!

14. The PLO's Charter still calls for the destruction of the State of Israel. Israel has given the Palestinians most of the West Bank land, autonomy under the Palestinian Authority, and has supplied them.

PLO is no more.. its now the PA. 2ndly "has given the Palestinians most of the West Bank land, autonomy under the Palestinian Authority" hogwash.. last i checked settlements are going crazy, there are walls cutting deep within palestinian territory, you cannot build anything without Israeli council consent. How is this autonomy / self rule?

15. Under Jordanian rule, Jewish holy sites were desecrated and the Jews were denied access to places of worship. Under Israeli rule, all Muslim and Christian sites have been preserved and made accessible to people of all faiths.

BS at its finest esp the claim of free access to Mulsim + Christian sites.. tell that those people living there. International pressure every so often forces them to remove the blockades at the entrance. BUT BUT BUT, the bigger issue is not access to the sites directly, but access to the city itself. Its kinda like the sales position of uncapped bandwith.. @R100/GB. its uncapped right..

16. The UN Record on Israel and the Arabs: of the 175 Security Council resolutions passed before 1990, 97 were directed against Israel.

17. Of the 690 General Assembly resolutions voted on before 1990, 429 were directed against Israel.

And please enlighten us about how many resolutions are respected by the Israeli authorities.

The Temple mount has not been accessible for jews since like.. well.. since before this all started infact and NOT only by those in control of the temple mount but also by the Israeli authority and the religious order or rabbis in charge of the jewish religion i might add.

The last time i checked the temple mount was not built by the jews and is infact along with a mosque. 2ndly one of the times, and there are only a few hanful times non-muslims have been in there, one was allowed into the area, they burnt down part of the structure which brought about even more stricter controls.

You say the UN was silient on the synagogues and yet if you visit some of the Israeli area's you can go to public urinals that were once mosques in the area. Its funny how there is an expectation for the UN to stand up and protect a country that continually makes a mockery of its institution.

ALL in ALL these truths seek to justify the current situation and tries in vain to push a religious angle too. pretty pathetic.

Lol You got served Marine1. Nice argument Krycor.

These guys always seem to argue that every pro-Palestinian post is propaganda (even when its from Amnesty Int).

Yet they turn around and regurgitate some pro zionists half assed attempt at an argument.
