"INVALID PHONE NUMBER" problem

just want to check if anyone else has had this problem. People phone me and my phone does not ring - but they get an "invalid phone number" message?

In december I started getting sms's from mtn saying that me "email box is due to expire in x amount of days" since then I have been having this problem?

any thoughts on this before I go through the drudgery & misery of contacting their "help" line?

No never - it's my original number from the mid nineties.

Ok this is what I done since I got the phone in September last year:

Phone: Samsung Omnia i8910 HD (2009)
upgrade contract to Talk500 (2009)
added a 500Mb data bundle (2010)

the other thing that happened last year and it may or may not be the cause of this problem is that I did not want an answering service or any other "add on" service for that matter. So I asked mtn to disable / switch it off (the answering service) - which they did. But then 3 months later it was back on again, so I asked them to switch it off. This routine went on for a while until I tossed my toys out the cot!! so they switched it off again permanently - not sure if this is any help or even related??

People phone me and get that message "INVALID PHONE NUMBER" but my phone never rings nor do I get a "missed call" message on my phone, but people say they have been trying to call me and I'm sitting right next to the phone which has a 3G with a 3 bar signal? However some people seem to get through while others do not?

Since the "email box is due to expire in x amount of days" it's getting worse?

i have the same problem from time to time but it's Cell C to Vodacom not MTN.... Sorry for cross posting....
 
I have the same problem on Vodacom since porting from Cell C to Vodacom. Landline numbers cannot get through to me. They get the voice of the Cell C lady saying that the subscriber they have dialled is unavailable at present... please try again later. If they call me from a cellphone, then it works fine. It's strange that this only happens with landlines.

Seems like Cell C have not completely removed your number on their side. Post in the Cell C threads, maybe someone there can assist you.
