Or be a cowboy like some of us. So used to zapping myself and sparks you wind up not caring. Can't kill you on the battery side especially. Voltage is tiny.

I redid most of the wiring in my DB with the inverters on supplying the house as normal. I don't recommend but it's not the end of the world if you have to lol.

I have connected batteries for a long time since loadshedding but I once melted a terminal and my eye was hazy for a while from the unintentional welding, it won't kill you but it's not nice, and it makes you look like an amateur.

Indeed. I burnt my toe with the melted metal from my screwdriver. I was the joke of the evening to my wife at the time

As i disconnect the inverter i put a plastic bag with an elastic over the disconnected cables

So the 2 cable tips don't touch

The capacitors still carry a charge and will make decent spark even if the device has no power from wall or battery

When i had to do jump starts or connects
I would tell the family , spark/noise coming up

Tap the cable on non thread non face parts somtimes twice, lightly to try and reduce the amps

Until no spark ie capacitors are charged then i connect the cable

Scared of in-rush current
No idea if the tales are fairy or not

So on devices without in-rush current protection i do the dance
