I need some of your learned oppinions, as I feel completely confused by all this, which is sad - I used to work in IT :o

The girlfriend and I stay in a flat on her parents' premises (just accross the driveway from the main house). Her dad manages a business from home and obviously uses the phone quite extensively. I'm really trying to benefit both of us here - I was thinking of suggesting that they go for a 4mb Telkom Closer plan, (1000minutes, per second billing to cell phones etc. etc.) but then I want both us and them to be able to use the DSL line for internet access.

Ideally, I'd like to share a 2+whatever account between my PC and theirs, as well as get a couple-of-gig unshaped account for myself so I can get onto XboX LIVE! proper.

Any ideas as to the hardware needed, ISP's to look at, how I should structure the setup & ANYTHING else?

Your input is appreciated...

Closer Plan 4 : R499pm (384Kb)
Closer Plan 5 : R699pm (4Mb)

Get a decent wifi router and have it located so that you are both in range. Maybe a netgear range max with matching range max usb wifi on the PCs, depending on the distance you need to cover.
Or you can just use cables or a combination.

With the 2+ accounts, remember that the 2gigs get used up 1st. Then you are on local only for the rest of the 30gigs. Not great if there is a business running from it. Maybe get separate ISP accounts for the house and the flat. Then you can use it as you want. Both accounts can be connected at the same time.
