What are you putting your money or resources on? Any plans in the future? Any ideas?

Short term and welcome options welcome.

Let's get this rolling...

Currently trying to come up with a way to build a portfolio that is diversified by both currency and country. Its proving a little tricky though.

So far I've found a way to park money in multiple currencies (USD / EUR / GBP)...but its at +- real zero return. What I really want is the equivalent of Satrix EFT in each country...how...haven't work that part out. Plus its going to be a tax headache...already dealing with 3x tax jurisdictions so it would get messy.

Aiming to get rich off properties. But NO.

Not a single person wants to help me. Especially here on MyBB.

Take full advantage of the TFSA accounts. Still deciding which one to go with but I'm leaning towards the Stanlib ones with high risk and maybe even offshore investments. Earnings are tax free so planning on only using what I put in there at retirement.

I do not max out the 15% (or has that changed now?) RA for the tax break - no idea what tax is going to be like when it pays out so I put about 7% in there.

Other investments are the RTB Top40 and RTB Midcap, some other fund at Stanlib I need to revisit, "play" money on EasyEquities and of course cash/liquid.

One day I'll look at property but for now I'm renting (that would change drastically if I was to move to CPT since rent there is ridiculous).

EDIT: And of course I made sure all my debt is paid off.

I have been thinking of CFDs. Need to do a bit more research on this before I venture into it. For the time being, I have been investing in shares (through my OST account) which pay reasonable dividends. I am into my fourth year with my OST and the dividend contribution has been growing quite nicely. It is my ultimate aim to use this as a supplement to my income in 15 to 20 years from now. Slowly accumulating shares mostly in good, solid companies with longevity and growth potential.

Just took a portion of my bonus and started a Satrix account into which I will add by monthly debit order. My wife's account has grown nicely over a relatively short space of time. Because her account is a more balance fund, I have opted for funds which are moderately aggressive and have global investments.

Lots more info in that "The Proof is in the Pudding" thread. Worth a read if you want to get an idea of what people are doing or considering doing with their money.

Sir, you are ominously quiet about your plans :erm:

If i had the $$$ to invest;

Something completly unconventional
Convert cash to bitcoin (maybe leave a few wallets open as well)

, sell immediatly to usd/gbp and trade overseas in the states/uk directly.

Seems i could bypass all the pesky laws here and get rich somewhere else quickly.

How would you convert the BTC to say USD currency that side? Without a bank account I mean.

Sure there are ways, i mean im sure the swiss dont really care how that money got to them, just thats its there.....

Could always open a non resident account, or use paypal if i had to,

Worst case could buy one of those traveller visa card, and fund it from my gains in usd,
But like i said its unconventional and a bit wild......

Still on a quest as per my above post. Got told today by my bank that they'll gladly open a share trading account for me, initial minimum deposit being just under 2 million. Didn't quite know how to respond to that...thankfully the guy was pro and smoothly referred me to another company that is a better fit for my needs so to speak.

On the plus side, I've discovered that UK brokers don't all require Uk residency and there are World EFTs out there. So well on my way as per original goal. Now just need to pull the same stunt for Euro and US to fix the FX diversification. Oh and tax jurisdictions...still working on that.

hehe. You'd be surprised how much anti-money laundering checks go on behind the scenes...think FICA except more intense and it works...the days of walking into a place with a suitcase full of cash are long gone. Especially in the areas geographically close to EU territories.

My money has been going into the Satrix INDI for many years now. Can't argue with the returns, and the way I see it, a sizeable chunk of the income those companies generate come from outside South Africa.

Is just saving money in a notice account like putting it under the mattress? I'm interested in investment but I want a stream that's safe and another that's high risk. Lack of fees for the notice account interests me.

How long do you have before you need the money? Notice accounts earn below inflation interest rates. In other words, they're guaranteed to lose you money in real terms. That doesn't sound too safe to me.
