I've been looking at my two invoices that I have received in December - it seems that maybe we can calculate the number of cars that have not registered for e-tags and not paid within 7 days by the actual invoice number (I'm guessing the number of malfunctioning e-tags or errors will be negligible for this analysis). So, for my two invoices I have the following invoice date and number:

Date of Invoice: 17-Dec-13
Invoice Number: 507,000

Date of Invoice: 02-Jan-14
Invoice Number: 1,586,000

So, if my theory is correct, that means that over 1 million unpaid and unregistered vehicles went through the gantries (with invoices issued) during the period 17-Dec-2013 to the 02-Jan-2014 (dates may be shifted a bit due to the two week collation for invoicing). So if we can get enough data points we can check this against the "facts" that Vusi Mona (*spit*) is spouting.

To test my theory, can people post their invoice numbers here (I rounded to the nearest thousand) - of course this is if you haven't burnt them already...

I never received any, it's almost as if they didn't send by registered mail...

Seems reasonable. Just take take...businesses do actively manipulate these numbers to influence perception.

Invoices are normally created every 2 weeks but will roll up much more often when the outstanding amounts are high. The problem with this approach is that it doesn't tell us anything about their revenue which is the important part. I would think that 80+% of their revenue is going to come from about 25% of the people. If the majority of those people are paying then that means one thing but if the majority of people paying are the dregs then it will mean a completely different thing. There are also companies that will have 30k+ cars. All of those will be registered.
