Hey there.
Im thinking bout taking my adsl to affordable level/uncapped lvl.

Now has anyone here got an inx uncapped account and if so what can you say about their service/speeds/network disruptions.

Was thinking i can take this account an split it with bout 5 other peeps in my building and viola download mad and we all don't have to worry bout capping issues.

Well this is one option. For the price they seem currently the best offer out there.

Anybody got any better btw?

Well just noticed the openweb offer.
R1299
1 concurrent connection
No P2P access
You can use your own router
NO Setup Fee
Works great for gaming
Quantity VERY limited

Now INX goes over IS and they don't limit you on p2p so thats up on that.
You have to use their router it seems.
Setup fee of like R1500

I would check whether you are allowd more tham one concurrent connections...me thinks not...so much for your plan

Just use NAT, will be fine. Ppl can't connect to you, but you can connect out. Inproves security at the same time.

Well slip. Nice thing bout living in a flat is that there's always a lot of peeps around u.......wait .....that's a plus? Hmmm.

I'm not gonna share my username:pw with anyone else aka concurrent connection.

What we planning is to do is just route everybody through one connection.
If we get 6 peeps on a 512 line we can bring the cost down sufficiently that it's worthwhile for everyone.

Hell if i can get the body corporate to give it a thumbs up we can even hook up all 100 flats and really get speed for everybody.

1 * proxy
1 * uncapped account
100 * 512K
-------------------
= happiness

1 * uncapped account will only work with the supplied IS cisco router ie. you cant share the same account across 100 * 512K lines :)

Yes you can in fact !

Cisco Router > ---- > Massive Linux Proxy < ----- Clients --- more clients

you can just add them as the will be in the internal range.

What happend to your signiture ? Are you trying to get a message accross ?

Noseweek please comment after reading what I typed.

The user suggested linking 1 adsl account with 100 512K ADSL lines. The users would access the 100 adsl lines via the one shared proxy giving it a total of 512k*100=50mbit bandwidth.

Atleast thats the way his explaination looked here:

"1 * proxy
1 * uncapped account
100 * 512K
-------------------
= happiness"

What Else could 100 * 512k mean?

Now it looks like an advert for ABSA and I thought you were in the ISP business, Tell me your uncapped product does it run via an IPC cloud or a Proxy type Box

IPC naturally. Proxy wont cut it.

Im in the market to make people aware of better things, not to smooth talk them. Thats why my signature looks like this.

Wow wow wow. this post is getting out of hand.

aah here's the fire starter.

Clipse
512K wont be speed for a 100 people ;-)

Your reading my post wrong. If my paltry english is coming through as a bit pear shaped I do apologise.

What I meant by 100 ppl and internet was that if it did work out then there's a chance that we can get a whole block of flats organised with their own internet connection. Im definetly not the kind of person who would want to resell a 512 line 100 times. What you take me for? TELKOM?

What I do though want to do is use an IS isp with an uncapped account. Using their supplied router(Which they have confirmed I can use to share the connection in an internal DHCP enviroment)
Now for my little 512 line I just want to share it with a couple of friends who live in my flats. Thereby getting a 512 line to work for 6 of us.

512 Uncapped: R1450
Telkom Line rental: 92.28
Telkom......another rental 512: 477
Total PM R2019.28

Now divide by amount I want to pay.
2019/300=6.7 ppl

Now I just need to scratch up another .7 person.......wonder if i can label a kid downstairs as a .7 person.......i'll have to work on that.

Well the beauty of it is that we have a lot of expertise with the people floating around this building so we can quite easily hook everyone up, get a good proxy running with dhcp.......This seems better an better.

I'm currently sitting on a saol 10gb account and it's only the 12th of the month and i'm already at 4gbs....This is not going to work. I can't download the vids of chris cunningham, Can't play cs online cause i can't download the steam updates, half life updates, cs updates......tis sux i say.

PM me and I will even tell you how to install local DNS so the lag wont affect your browsing.

Hi
We have got an Uncapped ADSL account from inX, and it is working ten times better then our normal 30gig account, we got statick IP's and inx has is also spooling all our mail to our mail server, if you have go the money to spend it, go for there inx uncapped adsl, they have also done our web site www.cn.co.za

I'm sure the 12 month contract is great as well!! Oh and how I LOVE the setup charge!

No thanks, i'll stick with openweb

why spend 1200 for uncapped with no p2p
unless you download alot of stuff off the net

if you dont then just get a 30 gig account from allyoucaneat for 680

you could get 2 which would be 1340 and you could use your bandwidth for anything plus the speeds would be better i think

my 2 cents

who's spending R1200?? i'm only spending R499, and I don't need to use p2p to get my files. usenext is GREAT!

i have a 384K line with telscum, so what I do is, I setup a pppoe dial up connection to my other account, and whenever I need my full speed, i just "dial" into it.

works for me.

Yeah just saw the contract :( That's kinda stinky.
There's no way anyone should sign a contract in these days.

Though still not up for the openweb offer. It may be cheaper but hell.....uncapped with no p2p....
