The Twitter account for the Independent Online news website appears to have been compromised by mischievous hackers

Update: IOL’s Alastair Otter (@alastairotter) has confirmed that the news site’s Twitter account was compromised, and that they are investigating the cause.

“We’re investigating the cause of the @IOL account compromise earlier today. Please don’t follow any links in those tweets,” he said on Twitter.
