Pretty shocking.

And...

Code:
function MM_showHideLayers() { //v9.0
      var i,p,v,obj,args=MM_showHideLayers.arguments;
      for (i=0; i<(args.length-2); i+=3)
      with (document) if (getElementById && ((obj=getElementById(args[i]))!=null)) { v=args[i+2];
        if (obj.style) { obj=obj.style; v=(v=='show')?'visible':(v=='hide')?'hidden':v; }
        obj.visibility=v; }
    }

etc

:erm:

Why do news sites choose these horrific layouts? The content is just splashed all over the page and your attention isn't really drawn to anything... except the ads in the header! It just feels like an absolute mission to try and read anything on there, never mind trying to find out what's current or not.

Oh, and the inclusion of those legacy scripts just show the incompetence of the developers in adhering to standards compliance... :p

+1. They changed it a while ago, then changed back to the old layout. Hope they realize their mistake.

They've actually managed to make it look worse than The New Age's site - amazing.

ive stopped using iol since they changed their format, i find it really annoying aswell

Oh no! MM_?? = macromedia = DreamWeaver = drag/drop = :eek:

:wtf: This in a high-profile site like IOL?

I have tried getting used to it but just can't. It was simple and user friendly before. Now it is just a mess. "If it aint broke..."

They were forced to revert to the old layout - there was a short 'apology' at one point, and it took a while for them to get the new format workable again. I've been using IOL for years now I'll look elsewhere

wow. that source code is giving me a headache.
js, meta tags and css all over the place. beautiful.
how the hell you even start to debug something like that is a mystery...

Does anyone know of any other news sites that give province specific news?

Okay, changed my mind. The new site's not that bad, you just need to get use t it.
