So finally managed to download itunes and tried to update to iOS 5 which itunes download just fine. But after going through motions of backing up it says "verifying restore" then I get a error "iPhone could not be restored an internal error occurred"

Anyone else getting this. I tried going into DFU mode and restoring from previous backup which it does just fine. But as soon as I try update I wait 20-30min for it to backup only to get denied trying to access itunes store. When I click on more info it takes me to ome Windows trouble shooting BS. Very frustrating.

Computer: MacBook PRO 5.1 (10.5.8)

I had many issues, 1st currupted download, then **** up of a restore for about 3 hours. Just got it working now! Was meant to be studying, got varsity at 7:30 today! **** MY LIFE

My download worked first time.

Just use DIRECT LINK like the Fxit_man said.

I had the same "internal error" after downloading the complete download three times - geez, used up lots of data. I got an error code, looked it up. Apple gave a line of code that it said I must install at the command prompt - something to do with "uncache". I did that, and it worked perfectly the fourth time....after it restored for me. I have my iPhone running on 5.0 now

I used the direct link which worked for me, I thought Apple would have fixed the itunes downloader by now!

I seriously dont know why companies dont just use torrents. Its designed for things like this.

My download crashed a couple of times last night so at 3 am I just use the 300 meg partial I had linked it to a torrent and off I went. Installed now and running like a dream.

Still p'ed off about Siri not making it to my iPhone 4... I mean come on there is no logical reason we can not have it. Siri was in the app store until keynote and even Vlingo works on my old phone so why disable Siri? Oh wait Apple has to find a way to force people to get new phones.

Interms of troubleshooting the restore, only allow apple to back up once and then make a copy of this backup. If you have used a direct link for the download you can restore as many times as you want without wasting cap.

The process should take about 15 min at the most, if it hangs disconnect your phone, mine went into a permanent dfu a few times as I unplugged in the middle of the restore. Most of the errors people were getting last night was due to the servers being overloaded as everyone wanted to download the new OS.

Best advice would be to follow fxit_man's Advice for errors as he knows the most...

Keep getting error 3200 and 3002 no matter how many times I try...

This is BS

[edit]

Fixed, copied it into the folder itunes downloads updates to, and it did it first time.

Siri is still beta, rumours that it might still make it to iphone 4... but I doubt it yeah... Apple has invested into it si need returns.

I also got those errors then moved it, thought I was the only one.

Care to share the location of that folder?

Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates

Windows Vista & Windows 7: \Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates

If you have downloaded the file from a direct link then copy the ipsw file into there and let itunes do the update instead of shift clicking on restore or update.

In my case it did not need to download the ipsw because it was already there, the 3200 and 3002 errors stopped and it worked straight away.

Very wierd..

Mac OS X: ~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates

I also downloaded IOS5 from the iphoneza links for my iPhone4.

I did get the 3002 error when trying to update. You know, the whole press SHIFT and then click on update and then specify the IOS5 file on your PC.... Well, that failed every time... the pesky 3002 error...

I then found out you must click on RESTORE and not UPDATE in iTunes. Then it worked fine!

Everything is as it was before the time, all the apps and everything works 100%

j.

PS... I originally tried to the update over iTunes... It failed 4 times and I lost about 2GB of data... So far I could NEVER get an IOS update to work through iTunes. I must always download it and then install it afterwards...

It seems even Apple can have server issues! So be kind to BB/RIM! :D

OK, managed to get the iPod Touch 4G updated - restoration is a bit of a problem, everything is scrambled.

I had to do the direct download, iTunes could not download the OS.

Must say, iTunes is horrifically bad software !

Can't say that I could with a clear conscience recommend an iPod / iPhone / iPad to anyone - just not as user-friendly as Android.

It's not that bad on OSX, I feel for windows users though :p

I used the direct link on a 3GS and the latest iTunes (10.5).

I backed everything up but after Shift-restoring to iOS5, I can't see any of the apps. Wi-fi was connected and I could browse, but no apps could be downloaded. I then turned it off and waited 20 minutes until finally the apps started downloading.

Why doesn't it reload all the apps?

I went with my cousins iPhone 4 and iPad 2 to work. Tried the automatic iTunes wizard, no luck, wasted about 4 hours, giving 3002 error both instances. Then I downloaded the firmwares from the Apple site. Tried the manual update, still I get the 3002, and 3149 when I try the restore wizard. Went to the iTunes for help on the codes, no luck. I have the latest iTunes, work PC up to date, and verified all those stupid requirements. No luck. My cousin, she's not happy. Anyone kno of a solution?
