iOS 7.1 carrier update?

Anyone know what this changed? Just updated to 7.1 today then it was followed by a carrier update on my iPhone 5.

I did the same thing on my iPhone 4, but I have no idea what it changed. So far everything is working fine.

You don't get carrier updates on iPhones. Updates come from Apple.

This wasnt an OS update. _After_ I did the update, iTunes told me there is a carrier update available and installed it within a matter of seconds, no rebooting no nothing.

Also got the carrier update on my 5S. Carrier is now showing as "Cell C 16.1".

Haven't noticed any difference and can't seem to find any details on the net.

Carrier update is for the cell network compatibility with the ios update.
