iOS 7 beta 2 released, brings its magic to iPad
We got to see quite a bit of iOS 7 back at WWDC 2013, but we only saw it working on an iPhone. Well, we've got some good news for big screen Apple devs, as a new iOS 7 beta's been released OTA and it now works on the iPad. Of course, the new beta also brings the usual nebulous "bug fixes and improvements" for all devices, and among those improvements is the addition of the Voice Memos app and Siri's new voices in English as well. It's available now, so if you're in the beta, you best get to downloading!

Hate me for saying this but the more I look at the new design the less I like it. I hope we will see less powder puff colours and icons when we eventually get the final product.

You're entitled to not like it of course. There's some things I really love and some things I'm not partial to. I think the app designs are great for instance; Music is a standout for me. I love the frosted glass and the new animations on everything. I don't like the new icons particularly but I reckon that stuff is easy to fix. I can't say the super-thin fonts do anything for me either.
 
I like the functional improvement a lot. The new control center is great and long overdue. There are some very good improvements, that is for sure. It just cannot get the visuals to appeal to me any more. I love white spaces in designs. I love typography. I am in two minds about the frosted glass. It is better than that ugly stitched background for sure, but it is very susceptible to "visual corruption" (for lack of a better term). The colours it allows through can make it look very very ugly. The conservative designer in me says "rather not risk allowing that". I hope the transparency will be adjustable.

Total agreement there. Haven't yet tried it but looking at the iconsets it seems like they have lost a good designer or two.

Functionality is great. The app design is also very nice, what is terrible is the nyan cat rainbow colours.
If they just went with a functional colour that would be great.
There has been quite a bit of resistance coming from developers with regards to certain flat design elements and not knowing where to press on links etc. Hopefully Apple will take those things to heart though and will refine it before final release.

Leave it to the devs to install it. Course you can do if you want it's just not advisable if you value battery life and stability and such frippery.
 
Don't knock it till you've tried it, in my experience it's pretty slick and hardly gives any problems on my i5... my i4 however is pretty klunky and I don't recommend it.

My battery life is the same if not better than it was on iOS 6.1.3, this with dynamic backgrounds on.
 
Really? I heard some complaints from people who'd tried to install it on their phones. Cool.
 
I'll be installing it on my iPad 2 later today.

I've got the beta 2 running on a development device (iPhone 4) and the upgrade from beta 1 was a definite improvement in over "feel" and speed of the OS.

Will see how it runs on the iPad 2.

Having said that I don't think it's ready for use on your primary device (Obviously, since it's beta, still)
