IOS 7 Release Today

Direct download with a download manager boys... Updates through iTunes can and do crash.

in that exact order. i dont have it now but i miss it. now i have to go into the apps and incur bigger charges to tweet and update your fb status
 
Well I am running the GM build 11A465 since last Thursday There was a slight lag after I did my upgrade on iPad 3 but after a restart it was ok I noticed my battery life is shortened as compared to how it used to be.The social network intergration from notification menu is no longer present but at least the weather and calendar is displayed in the notification drop down
 
I would of done my iphone 5 on Monday but cant sync yet so waiting for new itunes.
 
Okay so as an iOS Developer I feel I should put all the answers to some questions I saw in this thread here.

Q: Will GM expire?
A: No. Only Beta's had expiry dates.

Q: I'm on GM - best way to Final?
A: Download the final and update via iTunes

Q: Difference between GM and Final
A: There isn't. Apple have only ever changed Final from GM with a critical bug fix, IIRC

Q: I can't sync with iTunes 11.05
A: Nope. You will have to download iTunes 11.1 - releasing same time as iOS7

Q: I want to see how it runs on older hardware first
A: Oldest hardware for iOS7 is the iPhone 4. It is not that smooth on the device and a lot of the shiny UI stuff has been turned down

Q: What time do we get iOS7?
A: 19:00 SAST would be the most accurate guess - only Apple know exactly when.

Q: I'm on iOS6 - how do I update?
A: Two options: OTA or via iTunes - both require 1.3GB to download.

That's all I can think of right now with regards to the answers.

Someone mentioned a "queue" to download - Yeah - Apple's server's are going to get hammered properly. So if it's slow for you to download - just wait or try again the next day.

Someone suggested torrents. I wouldn't go that route - you never know what crap you're downloading. There are a lot of fakes / betas on torrents. Rather just download directly from Apple.


Note: If you upgrade to iOS7 - there is no going back to iOS6

If the application updates being pushed is anything to go by, this release will look amazing (I havent been following the ui changes much)
Camera+ v4 behaves quite differently now.
When I get the download I will put it on my website for your guys to download if all else fails ;-)

This is one area where Apple really screws their customers. I'd love to see a class action suit against them when an update cripples older hardware.

Luckily with the A4 you can downgrade.

You mean the parallax effect or the animated wallpapers?

The animated wallpapers are pretty boring imo, there is only one option with a few different colours. Android has also had this for ages already and nobody uses them.

Yup - too distracting

Except during the Xmas Season when I absolutely have to have animated Xmas Wallpaper :D
