I would like to edit OpenOffice / LibreOffice files from my iPad that is running iOS 8. These files would be resident on Dropbox. A Google search has not shown up any feasible methods for this, but maybe I am missing something. Has anyone here got this to work?

What app do you intend using for editing on the iPad?

That is one thing that I am trying to determine. All that I have found so far are obscure paid for apps, so no idea if these even work properly.

I have installed these apps and they are very good for editing MS Office files and also have decent Dropbox integration. Unfortunately they do not seem to support ODF files.

That's odd. I tested with Office 2010 on my PC, it complains but successfully opens .ODT files. Must be a subtle difference between .ODF and .ODT, or a difference in file handling between Office 2010 and whatever version you have on your iPad. Or both. Can't you get the files on Dropbox saved as .doc directly from Libre Office?

The PC version of MS Office does a good job of converting these files. It does however seem to be one of the features that they left off for the iPad version of Office. Unfortunately Libre Office is not available for the iPad.

The only other one I know of is Kingsoft Office for iOS, but unless something has changed recently it cannot open .ODF
