I think this one is for the real Gurus in this forum.

I am using Telkom as service provider with a Mega 105WR modem. Windows 7 and connect wireless at start up.

Is the LAN IP address 10.0.0.2 user specific or general? The reason for the question is as follows:

I am downloading nzb's from the news.saix.net server or I used to be able to. Since yesterday however I get the following when adding the nzb to Grabbit for download. alt.binaries.movies.divx does not exist on this server. (text in red differs depending on the newsgroup) I have re-installed Grabbit but still the same.

A friend suggested that I might be banned from saixs for some or other reason as nothing changed in my system or settings in Grabbit. (I can't think of any reason why). He also suggested that I change my laptop and modem IP addresses but I don't have a clue where or how hence my question on 10.0.0.2

How can I establish whether I am banned and if so please how or what can I do to overcome the problem. Will changing IP's help and if so how do I do it please?

I am totally clueless so any help will be highly appreciated.

I'm not sure how to check if you've been banned on the saix network (or if that's even possible?) but changing your ip address from 10.0.0.2 to something else certainly won't make any difference as the ISP doesn't care or probably doesn't even know what you're internal ip address is. They only work on your public ip, and that one you normally can't change.

Thanks all. I have set up my modem from scratch, reset and restart it and the problem has gone away. The panic was for nothing.

Just to clarify, the 10.0.0.2 IP address is your router's IP address on your local network, that has nothing to do with the IP that identifies you on the internet. To change your external IP just reset your router (if you have a dynamic IP which I assume you do).
