I have a client in Cape Town that has been struggling for a few weeks now with intermittent Internet connectivity.

After many hours on the 0800 number she has only succeeded in having her 2GB CAP depleted by a.n.other line port.

We have used a new DSL account from a different ISP and the same problem exists intermittently. There is just one unusual thing.... the IP address being assigned to her connection is always 165.145.*.* or 165.146.*.* which seems unusual as public connections to Telkom are usually 41.*.*.* or 196.*.*.*.

Can anyone shed some light on these IP addresses? Could this be the problem?

If so, how does one get around the address assigned to you?

165.146.*.* means the account is capped/on local-only.

really? When I do a backtrace (often the attempts at gaining access to my network come from 165. IP's) it shows some or other Eastern Europe country ....... now /me is really
