IP address Geo location

Hi,

Does anyone know if it is available in south africa?

What I would like to do on a website, is to check the IP address then check against a database to see if I can find the nearest city.

I have seen this around, especially on some google services.

It's done through a reverse DNS lookup service afaik. Google "reverse DNS" and you'll find a bunch of these. To use it on your website, you'd just have to query these databases directly without using their front-ends.

Problem is SA ip addresses arent linked to specific geographic areas. My current IP resolves to Parrow.
 
hence everytime you visit a dodgey site it has adverts for "women in parrow looking for sex tonight"
